What Goes On: Ford Tells Runaways To Chill

Lita Ford says Joan Jett and Cherie Currie shouldn’t get their knickers in a twist about the recent Runaways tribute.
Back in June, we told you that Jett and Curie are pissed off about the pending release of a Runaways tribute by Main Man Records.
Lita Ford, on the other hand, is much more chill about it all, saying her former colleagues should “embrace” the project rather than fight it.
According to Rock New Desk, Ford says she would have contributed had she known about it earlier.
Called Take It or Leave It: A Tribute to the Queens of Noise, the set includes cuts by David Johansen of the New York Dolls, the Donnas and Shonen Knife. A portion of the proceeds are earmarked for cancer research, the disease that took the life of Runaway Sherry West in 2006.
Last month, legal beagles for Jett and Currie started roceeding to block the album’s release, saying: “This isn’t about money – it’s strictly about preserving reputation and quality that both Joan and Cherie are known for.”
Main Man Records responded by saying: “We find it terribly sad that a charitable record could be deemed to be sullying anyone’s image.”
With the final word, Ford said: “Joan and Cherie have got to take it with a grain of salt. It’s a compliment, for God’s sake.
“It’s probably a kick-ass album,” she added. “I heard one track which was sent to me. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to play on it because it was too late.”
Here’s a trailer about the set…
