Awesome Album Covers: The New York Dolls
The New York Dolls (Mercury, 1973)
The high-priests (or perhaps, priestesses) of ultra-glam, you can be pretty sure David Johanson and company were avoiding roadside bars that were cranking Lynyrd Skynyrd on the jukebox.

… they were all the range in 1973 when they recorded their self-titled debut.
“It takes brats from the outer boroughs to capture the oppressive excitement Manhattan holds for a half-formed human being the way these guys do,” said Christgau in his A+ review. “The careening screech of their music was first heard in the Cooper Union station of the Lexington IRT,” he adds. They don’t stop there, he notes, “mixing early-’60′s pop song savvy with late-’60′s fast-metal anarchy, they seek l-u-v from trash and bad girls.”
In other words, the music personified what every rebellious teenager has wanted (since the dawn of hormones) and the cover made it personal.
And her friends don't want another speech
Hoping for a better day to hear what she's got to say
All about that, personality crisis, you got it while it was hot
But now frustration and heartache is what you got

well, a while back WNEW had a Wayne County feature, now The New York Dolls..too bad they denied airplay to County and The Dolls when they needed it, when it was important…remember the outrage this Dolls cover caused when it was new?
