Going For The Gold: Donna Fargo
Donna Fargo - Funny Face (Dot, 1972)
Now a successful business woman with a line of greetings cards and a series of books, Donna Fargo also includes million-selling country singer to her list of credits.
Donna Fargo has had two gold singles in her career. The first was “The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA,” a tune that was released in February 1972, reached #11 on the pop chart and spun gold within 6 months. The first of four straight country #1′s (and nine straight country Top 10′s), it also propelled the album of the same name to million-selling status.
Fargo’s follow-up to “Happiest Girl” was “Funny Face,” also on the Happiest Girl LP, also a country #1 and a #5 on the pop chart to boot. Six months after its release it, too, had achieved gold status.
