Over the course of their almost 40-year career, Journey have released a long string of hit singles. Among them are four gold records and one platinum seller. Let’s take a survey of their quest for the gold.

Journey’s first gold single arrived in 1979. Taken from their Evolution album, the singalong anthem “Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezin’” was the band’s first song to break into the Top 20 and their first to sell a million copies.

Gold single Number Two came from one of their biggest albums, 1981′s Escape. It was the album’s first single, “Who’s Cryin’ Now,” that won them their second gold single and, even more important, was their record by the band to break into the Top 5 on the chart (landing at #4).

After “Stone in Love” failed to chart, Journey released their biggest selling single of all, “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Along with winning a gold disc for selling a million hard copy singles, it’s also gone gold as a digital download and won platinum as a “mastertone” release (whatever that means).

Two more gold singles follow “Don’t Stop Believin’” in the Journey catalog: their highest charting record of all time, the #2 “Open Arms” and their late catalog entry, “When You Love a Woman,” their last charting song from 1996.
