They said they’d get back together when “hell freezes over.” Apparently it did because they did and the results were spectacular.

Walk into any store that sells a decent home theater setup and you’ll probably find the impeccably-produced Hell Freezes Over among the DVDs the salesmen use to demo their systems.

A fifteen-song set comprised of four new studio cuts and eleven live performances, 1994′s Hell Freezes Over was the first new album by Eagles in 14 years.

The four new studio cuts included two Don Henley collaborations (the emotional “Learn to Be Still” and the Top 40 hit, “Get Over It”) along with the countrified “The Girl From Yesterday” and the gentle “Love Will Keep Us Alive.”

The live cuts, however, are where the band truly shines. Taken from an MTV performance, Henley, Frey, Walsh, Schmit and Felder blended all the band’s many elements into rousing renditions of everything from “Desperado” to “Wasted Time.”

Seventeen years since its release, Eagles’ Hell Freezes Over has sold over 7 million copies.
